Hi fellas, its been a while, hope your all keeping ok.
I've not raced since the Southend STCC in March 08 (yes, the one where i turned up at midday ) and have started to get itchy thumbs again..once a racer always a racer i suppose!
Been keeping a beady eye on the forums and see that you have all turned to the dark, smelly side of racing AKA NITRO...what happend to you all?????? lol
Is there still any electric racing at Colchester? If so what class tends to be raced or is it all mixed in? what are the general numbers each week?
Thinking of getting my JRXS Type R dusted off and back in the mix, probably looking at the 10.5 class with a view to maybe doing some club days (obviously the dry ones!), a couple of the Rug Racer meets and maybe a couple of the STCC's next year...if budget and the new almost Mrs. Condon don't stand in the way - forget RC, weddings are bloody expensive aren't they!!!
I'm going to be streamlining all my RC stuff to keep it simple, so will be putting a few bits up for sale, its mostly electric stuff, but there are a few bits that might appeal to you Nitro heads
Is there any racing this Sunday? If so i'll try to pop along for a catch up as the last time i was 'on the scene' Craig was just learning to drive and was already polishing his fiesta in anticipation of his first 'cruise' down Southend, Leon was smoking and Tom started to wear skinny jeans....i need the latest goss
Talk soon

Hello Mr C,Long time.....
Yes most of the guys have gone to the dark side basically because it was getting expensive keeping up with the latest electrics, especially batteries and speedos. And with winter coming no-one likes blowing up £230+ speedos.
And now that we run foams on nitro,we can buy in bulk and it works out to £2-5 a set.Which is considerably cheaper than rubber, and the compound is less critical, and seems to have levelled the playing field a bit as well.
Yes,we'll be there on sunday and i dare say there will be a few racing electric,The sharpester is on the money at the mo as is Vince,Daz Wayland has also had itchy thumbs and recently rejoined us.We havent seen Leon for ages, girls i think,Tom has moved away and Mikey has just returned to Uni. But at the same time we have been visited a few times by some of the Snetts boys.
Hopefully see you Sunday.
Paul. |

Hi Twinkle Toes, it has been a long time!
Can definately understand about speedo's going BANG, and the cheap foams sound like a proper bonus!
I haven't really raced competatively with the new brushless / LiPo combo's but i would have thought that once brought the costs would be minimal - is there a big difference between newer speedos and cells and between manufacturers???
Good to see Daz back in the fray and that Overshoot (a.k.a Sharps ) and Vinny are still keeping it real!
Hopefully see you on Sunday where i will take a look at these new nitro contraptions and see what all the fuss is about |

The speedo's mainly used are the GM 120 or the Lrp/Nosram SPX and they both offer forms of electronically advancing the motors timing whilst running. And the difference is quite clear to see.
And the 'must have' lipos at the moment are rated at 5000mah and 40c,i think when you packed up we were using 4800/25c so yes,big difference.
The 10.5's have basically been going the same as the 6.5's from a year ago.And Chris Smiths 6.5 using an SPX at our STCC was like a rocket ship Tim will vouch for that i'm sure
I'm sure the boys will be glad to see you and enlighten you in the 'Dark side' especially as Team Woods both have new cars for this Sunday
