It was quite cold early on but the sun came out eventually and was then nice and warm.
There was Me,Big D,Darren,Mikey,Leon,Tom and Matt Sadler all pitting together so we had a good laugh.
Right,Quali.
Well i'd had a couple of good practice runs with the 009 and in my first round of quali i was of to a good start for the first few minutes till a pin came out of a driveshaft. But since i was in 2nd at the time i was pretty upbeat.
2nd run and i did a 17.314 which was ok for 7th in B but i knew there was more to come.I'd spent 5secs being marshalled on one lap.And with only 5 secs between me and 6th in A i was confident.
Final run and i had as good a run as i could hope for and improoved by 7.5 secs so 17.307 and a big jump to 10th in the A.
So to the finals and with the top 5 in the A being local and Messers Fuller and Copsey a lap up on me i was of the 'Can only do better than 10th' opinion.
So 1st final and quite a good start up to about 6th little bit of 'crash bang wallop' and ended up with a good run in 8th.
Pretty much same again in the 2nd final 8th again.
Last final and not such a good start, last until about half way when i caught 9th,Steve Lissamore, and then managed to keep him behind me until the end.
So ended up getting 9th overall and a big improvment on Eastbourne.
The others:
Mikey, looked good all day again and finished mid-C
Matt, unlucky with breakages but Mid C also i think.
Darren,2nd or 3rd in D,More importantly to him,beating Dave.
Big D,Wishbone carrier fell off when in the lead of one final,so unlucky to finish back of D.
Leon,Made the Mod A and looked good but had problems.
Tom,I have to say,i was marshalling his finals,He had a combination of car falling apart and being Bashed. So not all his fault and probably finished back of B.
Funny points of the day were Mikey bending 2 bulkheads and then saying 'I didnt even hit anything' Yeh right Mikey, the Fairy's must have bent them.Tom, saying that he was getting some really bad interference only to realise that he'd picked up someone elses handset.
Watching Big D| and Darren battle it out in their final
Then to finish the day Darrens car had a flat battery and it took 20minutes to find a way of getting to the battery, which was under the passenger seat.

paul, i actually got 7th in the b in the end... but its just my luck that i only found some pace when it was a bit redundant...

and just to reiterate.... IM NOT DOING BROOKLANDS!!! _________________ for some reason, my car likes to fly off kerbs...

Thanks for the report Paul - well done to all who took part - 2 CMCC members in A finals is a good result. |
