the problem you get then if only the top three are allowed to enter then i think it would definetly kill the national series as say if the top three from the club cannot attend for reasons or if you ar enot actually affiliatef to a club  whilst someone such as me whose ability is nowhere near the top three is willing to attend and have a go if you set the level too high it will only alienate people from the series and give the class an elitest feel but this is my opinon ...

we need to draw them in

As said i am againt the idea of all combined in one weekend there would be too much going on especially the  saturday mornign practice would be not really much use as you would have set slots for 4 classes and the time given i think would be no where near adequate if you are having problems and then you would have to be getting there the previous night so that you are ready from the word go whilst some of us cannot do this due to work constraints so therefore it would be pointless as by the time i had driven say to mendip and then arrive & get ready it would be nearly time for qualifying and as Pete and Ryk will confirm i can be a right tetchy git for an hour or so after arrival ( i knwo its longer than that)
and it would take away the feel of the meeting for me so if this proposal goes forward i will have to think if i want to attend a national meeting ...

Just to correct you a little Tim.
Unlike the Nationals, the STCC have 'open practice' for at least 1.5 hrs before the qualis on the sunday,so you dont'Have' to attend on the Saturday.
But i do also see your line of thought.
P.

Hi Tim
I agree with what you have said, and i would feel the same as you,i would not want to do the nationals in that form, the people that dont want to do them in there present form are not doing them and the people that do are doing them. i dont think we should worry about it Tim,there is no magic answer, and what ever they do will not get back lots of people racing in the present financial climate,i think they should leave well alone, and they probabley will.Nothing is cheap anymore, and thats a fact.
Pete.

Hey, hold up guys. This was intended to be a simple question about what the "tourists" thought about the current season and what might be a proposal to the AGM.
Didn't intend it to turn into something a bit more serious. Maybe I inadvertantly stoked the coals a bit, sorry.

Just to change the subject, I'm hoping to run a charity meeting on the late May Bank Holiday 2009. It's to raise money for Children with Leukaemi www.leukaemia.org. I've started a thread on www.3Hobby.net explaining the reason for the meeting. Hope the "tourists" can make it and any other IC racers from Colchester.
