WINTER RACING

Hello all,
I'm looking forward to running in the CMCC winter championship this year, as well as the inter-club Numb Nuts series.  I expect this is a bit early to be asking, as the summer series has only just finished, but do we have details of race dates / format yet? The sooner we all know, the more chance we have of attracting some good numbers.

Is it possible to propose making the Numb Nuts a proper team event with a club championship table/trophies as well as an individual table? Team events have always been good "club" fun and it would probably help with numbers? Top 8 electric and top 8 nitro scores from each club to count? Do we know if Coastal are going to join in?

Ryk. Hopefully we'll go for the same format...Running it the first sunday in the month, This means people know that week is always points and are able to make arrangements for it. Also arranging the practice if this is possible

Im sure this all will be discussed at the next meeting. So if people can add there views below Ill take them to the meeting and we can discuss them there and hopefully come up with a good format for the Winter series.

Also if anyone has anything else they wish to suggest for the winter... Please add this below or PM me ..

same format as summer series if possible...

3+2 seemed to work

are we going to run any form of control? or is it going to be open class again, cos that worked well too

in all fairness, the summer series format was pretty much spot on - can anyone honestly find fault with anything?

only thing i would say is, we wer originally told the layout number we were running before each points meeting, but then for some reason this stopped half way through - maybe whoever starts the booking in thread also posts the layout used

im up for what ryk is proposing team points and indervidual poits  that sounds good to me see witch club is the best.

The winter dates will get sorted at the next meeting, probably before the end of Sept.
The Tri-club is in the process of being sorted, still waiting to hear from Coastal.
Once we know where we are going then the format will be decided but rest assured with or without them it will be on.
To be honest the STCC is the priority at the mo and everything else can wait until next week.

Hi Guys, it's me from over Snetterton way. As Paul has aready said Numb Nuts will go ahead with or without Coastal. I have already asked Paul to take over organising the meetings this year as I'm going to be pretty tied up over the winter months on other things. With regard to "Team racing" can I suggest that it is made up of teams of 4 drivers. This may sound weird but each team stands alone and does not actually represent any specific club whether all the drivers come from one particular club or not. The top 3 points scorers from each team at each meeting to count towards the overall team competition. Obviously all drivers will score points in the individual competition, this will hopefully encourage "outsiders" who don't normally race at Colchester or Snett. to come along.
Just my thoughts.
Mr.B

I can confirm that Coastal are in and the dates will get sorted next week.

Good news

I hope you don't mind me disagreeing with you Jon, but I've been thinking over the 4-man-per-team proposal and I don't think that this is necessarily the best way to go for the series.

If teams are made of only 4 members, and all the top drivers go in 1 team, it won't encourage all club members to race in the series. If there is a higher number of people whos scores count per team, a lot of club racers will have a strong role to play in each team. So, when it's freezing cold, on a wet winter Sunday, there is a better chance of more people getting out of bed and wanting to participate in the series and help represent their club. Hopefully...

As far as encouraging people from other clubs to race - if there's an individual championship to enter and a good atmosphere at racing and a descent turnout of drivers at each round, then i would think that should be enough insentive. Plus, with a bit of promotion on line and someone trying to source some sponsorship the numbers would be even better....

What do others think?

See your point Ryk. How about all the drivers enter individually and at the first meeting all the names are put in a hat and then drawn out in groups of 6. This then becomes their team for the series (Only joking, I can hear the cries of dismay from certain parties now )
The biggest problem is that there will be some VERY STRONG teams and others that aren't. Maybe some sort of seeding of drivers with say a max. of 2 National level drivers per team.
You know as well as I do, both Colchester and Snett. could field a team of 6 drivers all capable of making a National A final which would probably make for some great racing but wouldn't really be very enjoyable for the "lesser" guys (I don't mean this as being derisory to any of these drivers). Team racing is always going to be differcult to sort out because of the "mega team" syndrome. I have a fantasy team already made up, and if I could pursuade a couple of guys to come out of retirement you wouldn't stand a chance.
I personally am not a great fan of team racing over a series, but as a 1 off enduro type meeting, much more of a laugh. 6 man team, all with own car, max. time between car changes 6 minutes, 1 transponder for each team which has to change from car to car at each changeover. Done several of this type of race and they're really good.

Jon this sounds very similar to the way we run our teams races.....
Dont forget the 19th October? Heard of any interest from your guys?

Paul.
P.S. I'll have a think about how to incorparate 'Clubs points' into the Numb nuts over the weekend.
