Decent Starter Car

Hi all,

I am relatively new to Nitro R/C and would be interested in joining your club.  Could someone recommend a decent starter Nitro car that conforms to your rules.  I may consider electric also.  I would prefer RTR to start with.

Thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,and welcome.
Unfortuanately there arn't many nitro touring car RTR sets that are 'worth the money'. If you can find an Associated NTC3 RTR then thats a good bet,I'm unsure but Team Magic may do a RTR deal which will be more money but worth it.
You could always check out Ebay for people that are packing up and maybe get a half decent package for similar money, but only go for someone with 100% rating and with a good descripton and lots of pictures.

If you go down the electric route then Kyosho do a RTR set,TF5 i think.Probably an easier starting point into the hobby but some would say not as satisfiying as Nitro.

Whatever you decide then feel free to ask as many questions as you like and we'll look forward to seeing you soon.

Regards Paul.

Thanks for your replies.  I have found a Team associated TC3, but it comes with a .15 engine.  Am I right in thinking you only race .12 engines, as that is what your website says.

Thanks

Yes we do run 12 sized engines but if the car you have found has the standard RTR 15 engine I would think you would be able to use it as they are not as powerful as the 12s we run.
Mr.B

Yes Ash is correct we would allow a .15 RTR to take part.

Would I be allowed to race a Kyosho Fazer RTR with a .15 engine?

yes m8 you would

What I feel you must reallize is most of the cars like the RTR Kyoshos- Tamiyas and the like are good for bashing around but they will not be competive on a track against the better quality cars, if you have a fixed budget it would be better spent on a good secondhand setup that would get you on the track with a competive car. Thanks for your help guys.  I went for an electric car in the end, a Schumacher Mi2 from Ebay.  Should arrive in next couple of days!!
