Well as you lot where racing yesturday and i was suffering with man flu, i though it would be a good idea to strip the engine out the NT1.
On opening up the caseing i found lots of black sooty deposits in and around the cylinder liner.
I've cleaned these off with nitro cleaner and scrapped the off around the side of the cyclinder.
Just to make sure that was ok to do and that the black carbon deposits are normall !!
havent started it yet but wednesday night will tell if i have done somthing wrong |

| Can I just ask how you sealed the backplate... As I've tried many different things from sealant to silicons to new o-rings, and it still leaks slightly... |

Hi Dan I would think if you have tried all those sealants it would not be the backplate that is leaking it could be one of a couple of things but would need to see it running to find out, bring it down the club and lets have a look.
Big D did you check the engine for wear in the con rod or bearings while you had it in bits. |

Ah, problem solved. Turned out to be the exhaust gasket and spring, was leaking oil onto the backplate, thus giving the impression that the backplate was leaking... oh well, all fixed and oil-free now |
