Hi All
Well Halifax over, and what a weekend,Very good for toby and me,(poor Ryk,nothing went well all weekend, loads of damage gears, clutch, exhaust pipe, and more and the final thing conrod let go that was the engine gone.
Good news for Ryk he quallied 3rd in A final, bad news again 8 laps in final gears went again,( he had a nightmare and he still did not get upset, well he did not show it,very very very bad luck for Ryk
But Toby had a great weekend,he quallied 11th poll for the B final, and he he won the B final by 4 laps, the best drive i have ever seen by Toby,he had a great final and a great drive well done Toby .
Me i had my highest qually in the nationals 6th in the A final, and fastest times i have done at Halifax rearly pleased about that, and i only had one proper qually,i had electrical problems and the radio modul was playing up.in one qually it went straight on at the end of the straight, and would work and then it would not,but sorted it in the end for the final i hoped,i was so busy trying to sort this out,i thought i had done every thing on the car,so A final comes up,we go out for the warm up,i told Toby i was doing 3 stops plus the fuel i had in the car??????????,Get on the back straight and the car starts missing and slowing ,get to the end and it stops get it back to the pits Toby try's to start it nothing change the plug still nothing,he keeps trying someone says to him it looks like the tank is empty,he was right no fuel ,fuel in i have half a lap to warm up my 36 sorex no chance, but the car was great once the tyres got up to temp, and 4th in the A Final i think i was 12 seconds behind 3rd place very very pleased ,the car was the best i have ever had it it was great, but poor Ryk had all is bad luck in one go,Ryk was on for 2 in A final im sure, but we still had a great weekend, and round trip it was 535 miles in the pocket rocket.

Yep, nice one Peter and Toby. Like Ryk, Tris had a mare of a weekend, blew the Wasp up, borrowed Mark Drakes spare Sirio and spent most of qualifying trying to sort the tuning out. Last round of quali. a SOB run to make the A and he had an excursion onto the grass and popped a pivot ball,so end of quali, but still 2nd to Toby in the B and looking forward to the race. Warm up for the B Final put the car on the track and all it wants to do is rotate in circles. Quick check of the driveshafts and find front nearside has snapped, both parts in car but not connected. Rush back to pits and fit a new driveshaft in about 2 minutes but miss the start and about another minute. Tris put the hammer down and is lapping nearly 0.5 second faster than anyone else and starting to catch up when he runs out of fuel, retreive car top up tank and the bloody thing then won't start, check plug, knackered, fit new one but we've now lost another 3 minutes. To many laps behind to catch Toby sadly, but finished 4th which wasn't to bad.
New Sirio Evo 3 on its way to replace the trusty Wasp.
Mark Drake set a new world record, he stripped a set of gears in every round of qualification, we stripped and rebuilt the rear end of his car twice and still was unable to find out why. Very odd.
Ashley bent his chassis quite badly and basically drove a banana all weekend.
Maybe we'll all have better luck at either Brooklands (we won't be there) or Cotswold. _________________ RCDisco/X Ray, Sirio, Weston UK Fuels, TIR |

Very well done to Pete and Tobie for their excellent results last weekend - both drove as well as I have seen them go. I think Pete took a big step forward with his Serpent setup and was very close to a podium finish. Next round at Brooklands both Tobie and Pete have a good chance at going one step better....
I managed to blow my entire years racing budget in one race meeting - totaling up the cost of all the damage on the way home was not an enjoyable experience |
