Edited the title Jon so no need for a second topic with report etc..
Just a quick report as need sleep and away in morning for a while
Brilliant weekend with good weather
Amazing circuit very challenging and not a smooth ride
We had the pleasure of Toby and his family's company .
Bit of a nightmare saturday for Ryk as he finally got ninja'd by his engine giving up but got a replacement sorted so that he could run
Pete Saturday not really to much of an issue his new engine flying and using the straights potential to its fullest
Myself not too bad a few handling issues then parking the car under the safety barrier at the end of the straight at full speed so that Ryk had to physically prise the wooden barrier off the car
Toby spent the day in that feeling of a glorious learning curve
Sunday good start Breakfast ...set up pits .....
Ryk due to the engine problems had to set up an engine blind with no track time to test it
Myself no problems to start
Pete No Issues to start
Toby No issues to start
1st Qualy I shred a tyre
Toby had a few niggles
Pete run reasonable
Ryk just trying to get that engine to run at a reasonable pace
throughout the day i managed to Run one heat with only 3 shocks attached , another i Smash into the wooden barrier again after avoiding toby on his roof in the middle of the straight and managed to crack a front hub carrier in another ...
Ryk Managed to source a slightly better powered engine and ran that so again major tuning issues in race conditions
Pete Had a few mishaps and problems
Toby managed to make balloon animals with this Driveshafts after bending them repeadetly
One issue i found to have was the old spiders crawling over you as you are racing
Finals
was close but Pete Unluckily missed the A final placing but was pole in the B, TOby Qualified 5th in B and myself managed to just scrape into 10th in the B
Ryk managed to qualify 8th in the A despite his problems
B final result
Sadly Pete had a bit of an off in which resulted in a major unwanted setup change on hos car so it made the handling hard to control fully but Pete Managed a Sterling Job to Bring it home in 5th
Myself OMG 3rd In the B wohooooooooooo shiny Trophy time
And well done to Toby 1st in the B at his first national event and what a race it was
Ryk Managed to bring it home in 4th
Well done all
Results available at http://www.brca.org/Sections/cir_ic_10/Racing/Results/2008Season.htm
And well done to Ryk for his 1st overall
Pics later next week .. |

Thanks for the kind words - we'll make the most of our championship standings now, 'cause it wont be too long before we're sliding back down the table!!
I would just like to add my congratulations to TimR on getting his hands on some silverware at last for a well deserved 3rd place in the B and for Toby who drove an awesome final to bring home the 1st place pot - excellent driving.
It was one of the best meetings so far this year, with a higher driving standard than i've seen at any of the other race meetings and a really good atmosphere throughout the day.
The B final was a cracker from the start, with Pete leading a gaggle of 3 cars spaced out by about a second, right up until the first round of pit stops. Unfortunately it was not to be for Pete - a broken rear pivot ball after a small incident slowing his pace down and dropping him out of contension.
There was a good number of people in with a shout of the top positions but Toby was looking confident and kept his head down from the start, putting in some tidy & consistent lap times. His 2 stop stratergy (most were on 3) enabled him to leap frog his main competitors and hold on to his lead from a hard charging Gyan Mahatme, who finished about 7 seconds behind at the flag.
Our Tim finished in 3rd and was only one lap down on Toby. It was an intelligent drive - not the quickest he's been, but smooth & steady and he did well to hold his nerve in the closing 5 minutes to bring it home and get his first cup of the BRCA nitro champs. Well done.
Loads of clean competitive racing throughout the field and everyone seems to be getting quicker....
Bring on our local round - Snett in a few weeks!
An extra thanks to Tim for letting me borrow his practice engine. |
